Making our Dreams Come True

John Tesh might have a run for his money. Watched ABC's coverage of the A.J. Foyt 225 this Sunday and seriously grooved on the opening. Since they were racing the Milwaukee Mile, someone had the bright idea to open with the "Laverne and Shirley" theme song. It worked great:

Nothin’s gonna turn us back now,
Straight ahead and on the track now.
We’re gonna make our dreams come true,
Doin’ it our way.

Better, by a mile-long lap, than Gene Simmons' "I am Indy".

My only fear is that this successful use of retro-kitsch (not the first time it's been done, certainly) might open the floodgates to too much nostalgia. I mean, do we really want this before Kings games???
